Ive sorted out my ucas application now and payed for it to be sent off. I applied for illustration at Brighton and Maidstone UCA and HND graphic design at canterbury college. I am hoping that I will get into one of the uni's as I would prefer to continue education in illustration then I would in graphic design, but I will be happy with whatever as long as it helps me get towards an alright career.
I chose Brighton uni as it has a really good reputation for their illustration course and its where dan mumford studied, one of my favourite illustrators. I also know the area roughly as I've been there quite a few times and it has GAK one of the best guitar shops in england.
Another thing I liked about the illustration course they had at Brighton was that all the work I saw online (I didn't go into the actual uni) looked good. It didn't all have the same generic visual language that I find a lot of illustrators have.

I chose Maidstone UCA because it wasn't too far and that would mean I could come home or stay there whenever I wanted. I also really liked it when I went up there and there canteen looked really nice. Also as it is UCA they let you rent out equipment such as cameras etc for free whenever you wanted.
The work there by the other students was good as well although I still prefered the work by students from Brighton.

I applied to HND at canterbury college to carry on with graphic design as I heard from people I know there from my old school said that you don't have to do research and mtp that isn't relative to your project. This is probally the only thing I don't like about this BTEC course as I could produce a lot more outcomes if I only had to research what I really needed to and not artists I have no interests in etc. also this was close so I would be more well off with money and loans then if I went to Uni, apart from all this I can do a one year BA top up after the 2 year course so it would be a degree anyway so it just seems like I would save a lot of money by going here. And if I wanted to I could do the BA somewhere else anyway...
I didn't apply for anywhere else as Maidstone and Brighton were the closest for illustration and I would rather do illustration then graphic design. I should of applied to the graphic design and advertising course for canterbury christ church just to keep my options open but It really didn't interest me.
